Built by Someone Who Knows What Matters
The Origin
As a working mom in a world filled with uncertainty, I was
moved to prepare. Inflation, unrest, volatile politics, extreme weather, the
2020 supply chain shocks of the pandemic, oil supply constraints of recent
wars, cyber threats…there seem to be crises looming in every direction. Yet the
more I looked at how to prepare, the more there was to know. I felt like I needed
a Ph.D. in Bushcraft in order to be prepared. But I didn’t want to become an
expert in everything, I just wanted to bolster my family’s stability and
security, and live my life. The more people I spoke with, the more I realized
just how many of us were in the same place of concern and overwhelm. For many
of us, our actions have been uncoordinated, and in us dwells a nagging question
of whether we have been doing the right things and enough things to be ready.
The Mission & Movement
Love and a deep commitment to keep my family and myself safe
drove me to conduct research and dig deeper. I found that there’s a movement of
millions of people like us, the everyday people not living on remote compounds
with livestock and private arsenals. There's a pervasive feeling that the
unexpected can happen - and people want to be ready. People are wondering what
are the right things to do to prepare, without actually having to become
hardcore preppers. I call us "Everyday Preppers". I met many folks
who'd started home gardens in case of inflation or food shortages. One family
had stockpiled over $20,000 in cash at home in case of cyberactivity that left
banks inaccessible for a period of time. A few families told me they are
maintaining homes in two countries, in case they need to evacuate their primary
country. And there are the many people I've encountered who are seeking or have
obtained a passport from a second country. Many I spoke with are stockpiling
hunting gear, fishing tackle, generators and defensive weapons. I discovered
that my social circles are saturated with incognito preppers, not using the
label.
Bumpy Road Behind & Solutions in Front
As I prepared for myself, I made some unhelpful or wasted
purchases, neglected some important actions, stressed out about doing it all
immediately rather than pacing myself, and made some other missteps as well.
It’s been a bumpy journey, but I’ve finally gotten to a more sustainable place
with information at my fingertips (in English, not in technical jargon), an
affordable plan for what I consider to be important and realistic actions. Just
knowing what to affordably do, and pacing myself, has brought immense peace of
mind to me. I resolved to share that with others, so I’ve packaged some of the
things I’ve created. That was the genesis of the ZAHVOTM products:
Readiness for the everyday person. With all the uncertainties in the world
today, we should all empower ourselves and our families to handle whatever life
brings with calm, confidence and love. I will be personally fulfilled if any of
the products I’ve created increase your peace of mind or personal safety. Thank
you for the privilege of being able to share my creations with you.
